2nd Blog Post

This week I did not make any food, instead I spent the weekend explaining to my parents and buying ingredients. I also spent it looking for recipes in cooking books and online. I found a few Indian recipes and tons of pastries recipes. After that I started getting a few ingredients from an Indian store. I didn’t know this at the time apparently it closes at 6 o’clock and it was 7. So I missed closing time, so I’m going to go there next Saturday.

New Genius Hour Project

I think I am going to do baking. I will have to make sure with my parents but I´ m sure they will allow it. My mom is Indian so that makes me half Indian. So I will try to make Indian cuisine as well as pastries. The pastries will probably include croissants, muffins and cookies. For the Indian dishes I´ m not sure yet but butter chicken for sure since I know a bit about making that.

For the food expenses I´ m sure my parents will help buy stuff and I also will chip in. We also have leftover Indian spices from when my moms family last came over.

Last blog post

This is my last blog post. I think my presentation went terribly, It was way too short. my plan was too have a video on me making a paper eagle, but the video couldn’t upload. The file was too big to upload apparently.

My experience was amazing, but it was a lot of hard work and patience. The project was long, but it was worth it. I made some cool stuff with origami, like birds, sea creatures and mammals. I can’t wait to do the next genius hour!

Week 14

This week was the same as last week. I did more and more of the origami. This is my last week to work on the presentation planning. By the weekend I want to decide what I’m doing for it. The only thing is that now I am presenting on Tuesday the 28th, so I get a little more time to build them.

I have figured out many tricks for folding or cutting paper with my hands. My experience with origami was annoying at first but then I figured out how to fold with precision and accuracy. The past few months have given me lots of practice. I might not use this later in life but it was fun to learn.

Week 13

This is going to be my last week to prepare for the presentation. I’m going to do some more complicated pieces just to challenge myself, and if they look any good then I will bring them in. For the presentation I hoping to go on Thursday the 23rd Friday the 24th. My presentation is going to be awesome.

Blog Week 12

I am making so many origami figures, my trash can is overflowing. I have been realizing that I most likely will not reached my goal by the deadline. So now I am just making as many good figurines as I can to prepare for the presentation. My idea is to bring in my important pieces such as the first one made, the best one and the most complicated if not the best. Then to explain what I did and how it hard or easy at times. I’m going to try not to concentrate on that for a little bit.

Week 11

My parents have agreed to get me more paper, but they say I cant buy too much. I also have been making more paper airplanes from these two YouTube Chanel’s

https://www.youtube.com/@paperplaneschannel1111

https://www.youtube.com/@PPOyt

They are very helpful even they go a bit fast. Usually I have books to follow but YouTube also helps. My “experts” have not responded to the emails, so I’m just going to call them. I probably should have done that in the first place.

Blog post 10

Since last week I have put in more work. My weekends are now almost fully covered by doing it. I am finding out that I need tons of paper if have so many fails. I have decided that the next month, so till the presentation, I will put full effort into making bigger and more complex pieces.

I did not expect it to cost so much for paper. My allowance has been paying for it for now. I might to ask for my parents to buy some for me as a favor.

Week 9 blog post

I think I need to get going. I have progressed slower than I wanted. I going to put more work in it during the week. Instead of doing 4 hours a week I think I’ll move it to 6 hours a week I think then I’ll have more examples for the presentation in February.

Also during New Years break I reached out to Taro’s Origami Studio but they Haven’t respond to the email yet.
